Practical tuning tips
- Start by balancing force terms: set
wm_gravity first, then add wm_wind until movement looks natural but still controllable.
- If path is too random, lower
wm_wind; if path is too rigid, increase wm_wind in small steps.
- Constrain movement with
wm_max_step/wm_min_step: reduce max step for stability, increase min step if motion stalls near target.
- Keep timing tight by setting
wm_min_delay and wm_max_delay close together; wide delay gaps often create inconsistent feel.
- Use
wm_distance_threshold to control behavior transition range; raise it if close-range behavior starts too late.
- Tune
fovsize and fovsize_sec independently to avoid secondary mode stealing targets from main mode.
- For secondary settings (
*_sec), begin with the same shape but lower aggressiveness (slightly lower gravity and max step).
